OPENING | International Master’s in Advanced Research in Criminology 2026–2027

This week, we had a great and vibrant start to the new academic year, welcoming the new cohort of IMARC

As an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) programme co-funded by the European Union, we are proud to welcome students from across Europe and beyond. This year, 50% of our student cohort comes from outside Europe, made possible through dedicated funding for students from targeted regions.

To get to know one another, students introduced themselves through an artefact they had brought from their home country. Many traditions, cultural celebrations, tradition clothing and family stories were shared — accompanied by sweets from Pakistan, bread and olive oil from Greece, and, of course, our very own Dutch pepernoten.

The introduction was followed by the first lecture on Globalisation, Digitalisation and Crime, marking the start of an exciting academic year.

The following day, we enjoyed an amazing city walk, visiting several criminologically relevant sites around Rotterdam. The afternoon was topped off with drinks and bitterballen in the sunshine — a perfect way to get to know both the city and each other.

We are very much looking forward to working and learning together throughout the year. We wish all our students a great and successful IMARC journey!
